CSR Policy
Earthly Treasures Corporate Social Responsibility Policy & Code of Ethics
At Earthly Treasures, we’re building a platform that puts people and planet first — but we know that sustainability is a journey, not a destination.
We don’t claim to be perfect. What we do promise is transparency, progress, and a deep respect for the impact our choices have on the world around us.
We require a mandatory disclosure from brands of materials, production methods, and labor practices and will only work with brands who meet our Sustainability criteria.
Brands and Artisan Owned
- We prioritise collaborating with independent brands, ensuring that these businesses are owned, operated, or managed by the designer or their family.
- Whenever possible, collections are crafted locally in small production batches by artisans or the designers themselves.
- We prioritise working with brands with UK made products.
Labour
- We promote a fair and transparent supply chain, making certain our sellers do not use sweatshops or engage in practices involving trafficked, bonded, child, or forced labour.
- We will only work with brands that offer fair pay, use fair trade practices and adhere to respecting human rights to the people who make their products.
Materials Sourcing
- We do not support the use of farmed fur or exotic skins. Although we may offer items made from animal products or have components that contain animals products, these are always by-products of the meat industry. We never work with brands where animals are killed solely for the use of product manufacturing.
- For brands who use wood, we will only work with brands who use only sustainably sourced materials, especially if producing items from endangered or exotic hardwoods. They should prioritise off-cuts or recycled wood, avoiding illegal logging and deforestation and working with trees from conserved areas.
- For our wellness product suppliers, we advocate the use of natural, plant-based ingredients and discourage synthetic additives. Additionally, we request that no testing, either on individual ingredients or the final product, be conducted on animals.
- If brands have this, we request submission of third-party certifications such as BCorp, Fair Trade, GOTS, FSC, PEFC, OEKO-TEX etc.
Packaging
- We encourage brands to use either recycled packaging or recycled packaging wherever possible. In some cases it may not be possible to use 100% recycled/recyclable packaging at every stage in the journey, but brands will be able to give reasoning as to why they have chosen a non sustainable option.
Ethically Made
- The majority of sales proceeds go directly to the brands, so they can offer fair wages to their suppliers, craft higher-quality goods, produce locally, and minimise their environmental footprint in delivering products.
- All designs sold through us are unique, original, and belong to the individual brands. Each item is made by the designer, artisans or brands under their close supervision, ensuring high-quality standards. We never sell fakes or copies of another designer/brands work under a different name.
Daily Operations
-
Shipping: We work with Shopify Planet and carbon offset 100% of all of our carbon emissions from shipping from your order’s journey from our brands warehouses/workshops to your doorstep, at no extra cost to our customers. These initiatives go into restoring grasslands and planting trees.
- Green hosting: We operate on Shopify, an environmentally conscious choice, as its platform runs on Google Cloud which matches 100% of the energy consumed by its data centers with renewable energy.
- Digital First: We are a digital first company and prioritise using digital invoices, contracts and marketing to eliminate paper waste.
- Future Goals: We are only a small brand for now and have just launched, but we have plans to improve our impact, community giving and partner with more green companies and charities as our startup brand grows.
If it’s not ethical, we won’t support it!
