Why is this product better for the planet and its people?
A TOKO sources rattan from Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo) farmers supported by the World Wildlife Foundation. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) has also accredited these communities to look after and protect the trees that are essential for rattan's growth. Rattan is sustainable because rattan farming doesn't harm but protects rainforest trees that may otherwise be cut down to make-way for palm oil plantations. With the WWF and FSC support & accreditation the farmers are able to charge more for their rattan - which A TOKO gladly supports. A TOKO is also exploring ways to give back to communities in Indonesia, elevate Indonesian culture and provide decent jobs that are fairly paid which is integral to the brands reciprocity.
